Thanks Rick. Our new website will make available all issues of The Arena online.

For those who wonder about our 2008 group reflections on Adjusters, the current Arena has a brief report.

Personally, I would like feedback on the article "Too Deep for Words", if anyone has time to criticize.

Here is the current Arena: Arena15_4.pdf

The last two pages also present something unorthodox about the size and shape of Orvonton.

But before looking at that, check out this: Dwingeloo 1 Emerges, especially the caption

below the image: "Sometimes you can't see the forest for the trees..."

Recall that the length of Orvonton is described as "far greater than the breadth". [p.167:18]

The opaque band we call the Milky Way hints at Orvonton's breadth; so how long is its length?

Does Dwingeloo 1 feature in this sketch (see link)?

Major Sectors?

I will comment on your

“regions hard to observe, due

Nigel, is this a suitable thread to continue on this topic?

HSTa - it would be great if you could help us to reconsider our assumptions about

local rotational centers, and what lies along the line-of-sight through Sagittarius...

I suggest a new thread in Science & Cosmology, e.g. "Mapping Orvonton"?

I have free time next week, I'll try to contribute to your other threads!

Dear Rick <_< ,

I'm SO glad I found your message here, today.

The ANZURA website is EXCELLENT!! The information about their conference in September and how that ties in to the Parliament of the World's Religions

(3-9 December 2009 Melbourne, Australia)

http://www.parliamentofreligions.org/index.cfm?n=8

..is quite a "master plan" to rally around and focus on in a "theme sense" as we think in terms of individual / group / large group / world group discussion and frame-of-thought. What impresses me about these upcoming gatherings in Australia this year is that they are focused on ACTION. I love how ANZURA maps their study groups, too. I don't think we can be so public as to put addresses online here in the United States, but a name and phone# ought to be possible for each dot.

Parliament participants will work with others and within their own traditions to craft faithful responses to:

• indigenous reconciliation

• global poverty and global warming

• environmental care and degradation

• education of the young and the challenges of social disengagement

• voluntary and forced migration

• artistic expression and spirituality and

• the value of sports

In today's world, understanding between people of different traditions is not optional. It is essential. The 2009 Parliament will give people of faith, spirit and goodwill new reason to say that peace is still possible.

Message From the President, William Wentworth

With 2010 now well underway, I reflect how 2009 was dominated by ANZURA's effort at The Parliament of World Religions. The Sydney conference in September offered time and space for some rehearsing and positive criticism of our proposed presentations, and helped lay the groundwork for the organisational effort required.

As usual, Trevor and Kathleen Swadling played a major role, with Kathleen standing in for her daughter, Merindi, who had her first baby just as the parliament was finishing. Vern Verass put his design skills to work on the book booth and brochures made available during the parliament.

A very welcome opportunity was provided by Steve Shanahan, a well known Melbourne reader, who hosted an evening at his house in Melbourne the day before the parliament opened. Overseas visitors could thus be greeted and welcomed by ANZURA, while being fed a sumptuous meal by Steve. There were visitors from USA, Canada, Finland, Germany and possibly others, as well as Australian visitors from interstate.

Many of those present volunteered to help man the book booth at the parliament, through which a couple of hundred books were distributed to interested members of the public and parliament attendees. Some of them seemed to be experienced and accomplished personal workers, many of whom had attended previous parliaments. There was a great sense of camaraderie among those workers at the book booth, and the booth itself became a focal point for Urantia Book readers to meet one another and exchange experiences.

The workshop presentation of The Urantia Book was given by Kathleen Swadling, Nigel Nunn and myself, to a small audience of about forty or fifty people, of whom perhaps half were new to the book. The presentation seemed well received, Nigel being in particularly good form.

At the conclusion of the parliament, some of the Americans invited us to their fl at for an evening meal and farewell gathering.

I think ANZURA can be proud of the way The Urantia Book presence at the parliament was handled. A lot of thought and work went into it, and the result was a thoroughly well organised effort which constituted productive outreach and great fun to be part of.

As for other matters, 2010 looks to being a quieter year than 2009. Julian McGarry is well advanced with planning for ANZURA's annual conference in Hobart.

Welcome to this winter issue of the Arena. Hopefully you’re all rugged up nice and cosy as you read this latest news from ANZURA and various readers from around the world.

If you’re still thinking about going to the annual readers’ conference at Alexandra Headland on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast in September and haven’t registered yet, this is your last reminder! The countdown has begun and it’s promising to be a great conference. See further on for more details on the program. The National Study Day was held in May and quite a few groups managed to get together and spend a whole day reading and enjoying social contact with fellow readers. You’ll read about some of the individual groups who met in this issue.

William Wentworth attended and represented ANZURA at the UAI’s International Conference in Colombia earlier in the year and gave a talk on ANZURA and reader activities in our part of the world. Read on for his presentation.

Representative Council discussions have resulted in one resolution having been passed since the last Arena. It was to establish a set of UAI Guidelines for International Conferences. There is an important discussion underway at the moment concerning the development of a new UAI website. The UAI Communications Committee, led by our very own Vern Verass, has been working with a development team on this project for the last 4-6 months. It’s shaping up to be a dynamic, professional, and state of the art website. The committee is planning for the new site to include an Intranet, a member log-in database, online membership process integrated with PayPal, childsites for all UAI associations, translations into as many languages as possible, document library for the ISB and all UAI associations, and conference/event reservation center. I’ll report on the ongoing progress of this issue as things unfold.

ANZURA has a small supply of a wonderful little children’s book called Tales of Joshua. It’s an illustrated children’s story of Jesus from birth to 13 years of age as per The Urantia Book’s record. The illustrations can be also be used as a colouring book. A great gift for parents and grandparents to consider for the little ones. My own children had a copy when they were growing up and loved it. They tell me they have cherished memories of the book—they are now adults with children of their own and grew up to become readers of The Urantia Book. See more details on prices and ordering further on.

Enjoy your reading of this Arena.
