Dear 'nuf and all,

p. 1129 "The unity of religious experience among a social or racial group derives from the identical nature of the God fragment indwelling the individual. It is this divine in man that gives origin to his unselfish interest in the welfare of other men."

We have all experienced this unselfish interest.

This week friends from different religious and philosophic backgrounds gave comfort in a time of crisis. I was moved by this outpouring of love.

Would you define this as an example of unity of religious experience?

Faith sister,

Carolyn

Hi Carolyn,

Not in and of itself, no. And let me try and explain why...

If that kind of outpouring of love is based on insight into "origin, purpose and destiny" that religious experience opens the mind to, then yes.

But since we don't immediately know where the individuals are at with regards to cosmic insight, then unity in a time of crisis is more likely the functioning of the first 5 adjutant mind spirits....

Everyone looks at "metrics" - so we can look at it this way - people with cosmic insight go the extra mile and that "service" to others is so unselfish, self-forgetful, involved in finding the TRUTH of origin of the problem, that we see the ACTS of second mile people as "nuts". People often commented on Jesus being "beside himself"....
