Relationships: Human and Divine

Urantia Kansas City 2013
July 25 - July 28
A UAUS National Conference

Every true relationship of mortal man with other persons — human or divine — is an end in itself. And such fellowship with the personality of Deity is the eternal goal of universe ascension. Paper 112 section 2 (page 1228)

At the heart of Urantia Book teachings, you find relationships - the relationship between the individual and her Thought Adjuster, between an angel and her charge, between the Father and the elementary mortal. Our relationships lead to our understanding of morality, of duty, and of service to each other and to the universe. Join us in Kansas City to both study these relationships and to form new ones!

It is not so important to love all men today as it is that each day you learn to love one more human being. If each day or each week you achieve an understanding of one more of your fellows, and if this is the limit of your ability, then you are certainly socializing and truly spiritualizing your personality. Paper 100 section 4 (page 1098)

The University of St. Mary has hosted numerous Urantia events for more than 25 years. They are friendly, courteous, and open to all groups looking to find God and be more like Him. Though Kansas City can be hot and humid during the summer months, all of the major buildings at St. Mary's are connected though underground tunnels. If you have been to St. Mary's before, you might remember the basic set up. However, they have built a new building of dorm room suites which we can use.

For driving directions to the conference, we suggest you use the address above to determine the best route. If you are flying, we suggest Kansas City International Airport as your destination. If you would like a ride from the airport to the conference, forward us your travel arrangements and we will arrange a ride (perhaps for a small fee.)

There are three room options:

Standard: two single beds per room and two rooms share one bathroom.

Suite: Four rooms each with a single bed and share two bathrooms.

Single: Same as the standard, but we won't book anyone else in the room with you.

Volunteers will be cooking many of our meals for us! St. Mary's allows us access to a kitchen, so we will be cooking breakfasts and lunches to order. We will have catered dinners on Friday and Saturday nights, as well as a KC Barbecue Lunch on Sunday.
Are you vegetarian? Do you have special dietary needs? Let us know beforehand so we have all the ingredients necessary.

Early Registration is $275 for a Standard Room through April 30. Regular Registration is $300 through June 30. Last minute registration is $325. Add $50 for a Suite Room. Ad $75 for a Single Room.

We will strive to provide scholarships as funds become available. We have purposely kept the cost of this conference down so that it can be affordable to the greatest number of people. If you are able, consider adding a few dollars to your registration to help cover the costs of others. If you would like to apply for a scholarship, contact UrantiaKC at urantiaKC@gmail.com

Please bring your kids! Child care will be arranged during the program. If the child sleeps on the floor of the parents room, then there is no added cost. Program costs nothing for kids. The only cost would be food. Obviously small children eat very little so their costs would be negligible. Older kids seem to eat more than adults, so they would need to contribute for that. A full adult food plan is $125. Either way, contact us so we can make a plan on child care and food.

Thursday afternoon will be reserved for checking-in and forCouncil and Committee meetings as needed. The conference will begin with dinner and a program Thursday evening at 5pm.

Friday and Saturday the conference will run all day with three meals, morning and afternoon programs, and evening entertainment.

Sunday we will conclude with breakfast, a morning program, and a noon KC Barbecue and picnic that will last as long as needed. Don't feel like you need to rush out the door exactly at noon!

Pre/Post Conference

Do you want to arrive a day or two early or stay a day or two late? No problem. Contact UrantiaKC to arrange your travel. Interested in hosting a pre-conference retreat? Contact us at urantiakc@gmail.com

(Please go to http://www.urantiaeurope.org/ for more information and to register.)

Many Urantia book enthusiasts from various parts of Europe have expressed that they feel the time is ripe to begin a tradition of Europe conferences. Several months ago, some of us formed a team that has been working to put together an uplifting event in Berlin this summer. The team includes individuals who benefit from experience organizing Urantia gatherings and conferences. Some of us are also active with the chief Urantia organizations, which are supportive of this effort. We expect this to be an intimate conference of around forty to fifty attendants who are of all generations from all over Europe, and beyond.

We chose Berlin because it is relatively inexpensive and quite centrally located in Europe. Berlin is also a city that many people love to visit since it is such a vibrant center of art and culture. We hope that many visitors will stay several days before or after the conference – stay and explore the Berlin with us!

Although language barriers were somewhat of a hindrance in earlier times, more and more Europeans, particularly younger generations, now speak English. English will be the primary language of this conference. When the whole group is together English will be the language used, but if enough German or for example Spanish speakers attend we will also arrange for discussion groups in those languages.

Room and Board

The registration fee which includes lodging, breakfast and the conference room is 115 Euros for a double room and 165 for a single at Cityhostel Berlin. See the venue page or the following link for more info. www.cityhostel-berlin.com/gb/
Participants will pay individually for their lunches and dinners during the conference. We’ve prioritized keeping the conference inexpensive to help make it possible for lots of people to come including young people and readers from economically depressed countries, and so forth).

We hope you can join us in July for this inspiring event!

Esa Irri, Mike MacIsaac, Clemens Trauzettel, and Samantha Nior (among others who have helped and/or will help make this an awesome conference)

A Seminar on the Truths of Spiritual Experience

A Seminar on the Truths of Spiritual Experience

A seminar on the truths of spiritual experience will be conducted by Jeff Wattles and held at Urantia Foundation headquarters in Chicago, beginning on Thursday evening, May 30, and ending at noon on Sunday, June 2, 2013.
Participants will be presented with an approach to education based on two statements from The Urantia Book:
  • "On the mansion worlds . . . schools are organized in three general groups . . .the schools of thinking, the schools of feeling, and the schools of doing." (551.1) 48:5.6
  • "The religious challenge of this age is to those farseeing and forward-looking men and women of spiritual insight who will dare to construct a new and appealing philosophy of living out of the enlarged and exquisitely integrated modern concepts of cosmic truth, universe beauty, and divine goodness." (43.3) 2:7.10
This "new and appealing philosophy of living" provides a pattern for education that fits the pattern for education in the schools on the mansion worlds. Thinking strives for truth; feeling rejoices in beauty; and doing can actualize goodness. The truths of spiritual experience include the fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man, the joy and liberty of the sons and daughters of God, and the truths of the golden rule.
If you are interested in attending the seminar, contact Jeff (jwattles@kent.edu). Participants will:
  • select one or more truths of spiritual experience;
  • study these truths in The Urantia Book;
  • savor and internalize them for at least six weeks; and then
  • design a five-minute, presentation to express a bite-sized "something" of that truth.
During the seminar we will study The Urantia Book, hear presentations from each other, address difficulties, and support our growing effectiveness.

If you cannot attend the seminar, you can listen to podcasts of a two-month course on the philosophy of living, a course that Jeff will be giving at Kent State University, beginning March 7. For additional information, visit https://sites.google...proclaim-share/.

Note to Younger Readers, 3/11/13:

...We will share, study, commune, hear presentations from participants, support one another, and prepare to communicate truth after we return home.

The seminar is intended for those who have begun to share spiritual truth and wish to upgrade their ability to do so. The goal is to empower ourselves to "promote a religion . . . commensurate with man's intellectual and cultural development."

There is a preparatory project that uses revealed and tested methods of experiential education. You select one or more spiritual truths to focus on, probe them through study, live them in experience, and share your findings with the group, as coordinated by the seminar organizer, Jeff Wattles.

About a dozen places at the table are still available, and there is a need to balance the seminar with younger readers. If you are interested, contact Jeff at jwattles@kent.edu
